To be useful for personal documentation or for the benefit of others, our experiences or views about life experiences, what we witness and experience, can be expressed in the form of creative writing. One form is poetry.

A poet or poet will not underestimate his experiences. Everything that was seen and experienced always did not escape his attention. He makes all that as something that is meaningful to others.

Many people think that writing poetry is complicated. And if we have tried it, the complexity that is imagined it will become a real beauty. To help you write, you need to know what elements make up a poem?

In general, people say that a poem is built by two important elements, namely form and content. Waluyo (1987) argues that the physical structure of poetry consists of lines of poetry that together construct verses of poetry. The physical elements included in the physical structure of poetry according to Waluyo are: diction, imagination, concrete words, majas, versification and phipography. In addition, there are still other elements, namely the means of rhetoric.

The following elements are described:

1. Fiction

Dictation or word choice has an important and main role to achieve effectiveness in writing a literary work. To use diction well, the writer must understand the word problem and its meaning, know to activate vocabulary, choose the right words and in accordance with the situation and recognize the style of the language according to the purpose of writing.

2. The Image

The image (image) is used to give a clear picture and make a vivid picture in mind to attract the reader's attention. Judgment is the main means of achieving poetry.

3. Concrete Words

Concrete words are words expressed by the poet to describe a picture of a state or inner atmosphere with a view to arousing the reader's image.

4. Figurative Language

Figurative language makes poetry radiate many meanings or rich in meaning. Types of figurative languages ​​for example are simile, metaphor and personification.

5. Versification

Versification includes rhythm (rhythm), rhyme (rhythm, repetition of sounds in poetic lines) and meter (steady rhythm).

6. Typography

The earliest differentiator can be seen in distinguishing poetry from fiction and drama prose.

7. Means of Rhetoric

Is a pattern or style that is a specialty, a typical author. The means of rhetoric are also called mind tricks in the form of language arranged to engage the reader in thinking.

Thus the elements forming poetry may be useful for prospective poets.
